We very warmly welcome our latest 17 new members, pushing us to an astonishing 111 members in total. In the face of the cost-of-living crisis, social and economic inequality and the environment crisis, policymakers and local authorities face significant challenges with the urgent need to transition to a food system and culture that maximises health and wellbeing, increases prosperity and equity and conserves and enhances natural resources. Our six-key issue framework offers local solutions that build networks to foster and support a collaborative cross-sector approach that uses food as a primary vehicle for delivering positive social, economic and environmental outcomes.

Our programme lead Leon Ballin says: “We have seen a quiet revolution in how communities tackle the most serious social issues we face in the UK today including food poverty, poor health, inequality and isolation. Food partnerships are now operating in over 30% of all UK local authorities, representing over half of the population, and are shaping food policy and provision at a scale never seen before”.

Our network shows that local food partnerships can help drive a fundamental shift in local food systems and become a hub for a rapidly growing good food movement of active and engaged citizens.
