Good Food York: is the cross-sector body that has strategic responsibility for York’s participation in the national Sustainable Food Places Network. Good Food York aims to represent and engage with all relevant stakeholders in the local food system. Its role is not to undertake all the work itself, but to identify challenges and opportunities in York’s food system, network with other relevant individuals and organisations, and seek their involvement in implementing specific projects within our emerging overall Food Action Plan. This Food Action Plan is a dynamic document, which is periodically reviewed by the Good Food York Working Group.
Good Food is the best combination we can achieve of fresh, local, seasonal, healthy, delicious, affordable, sustainable, and fairly produced food. We believe that Good Food is vital to the quality of people’s lives.
Good Food York / Yorkshire Sustainable Food Places is a forum to provide a meeting place and strong active network to help build a Yorkshire Regenerative Food System movement.
Our aim is to build an alliance that actively supporting the development of a sustainable regenerative food system:
• Build regenerative agriculture practices
• Help people have healthy, locally sourced, season food
• Increase knowledge about nutrition’s role in health
To be a pro-active network for everyone in the region involved in the food system: growers, producers, sellers, cooks and eaters. The network's focus is on positive change to create strong local and regional food production which provides accessible, healthy and delicious food in an environmentally sustainable way. The network also supports the workers and businesses and the communities that grow, cook and share together.
