Food Vale is a partnership of individuals, community groups, organisations and businesses working together to build a healthy, sustainable and inclusive food system in the Vale. Our Steering Group, set up in 2018 and revised in 2021, includes representatives from across public, private and third sectors, including the local Health Board Public Health Team, Vale Council, FareShare Cymru, Big Fresh Catering Company, Cywain, Natural Resources Wales, Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) and Glamorgan Smallholders.
This year, Food Vale will be moving into its next iteration as it reaches out to citizens across the county to join the good food movement and collaborate to develop our Action Plan for the next year ahead.
Food Vale Charter
The Food Vale Charter shares a collective vision for the future of food in the Vale, and sets out the key priority areas for a good food movement. The Charter is based on our three key aims:
Food Access Pilot Study
We are piloting a project in Llantwit Major to explore issues around access and affordability of food. The project is based on our first charter aim, and asks the question “why can some people not have a good meal everyday”. As part of this engagement work, we are using an innovative narrative-based research software called SenseMaker to better understand the lived experiences of food poverty, and identify the next steps to ensuring everyone has a good meal everyday.
