A combination of inflation, wage stagnation and real-terms cuts to benefits is pushing an increasing number of people into food insecurity. 15 per cent of all households – that’s 8 million adults and 3 million children – experienced food insecurity in January this year.
Councils, alongside our partners in the voluntary and community sector, have a key role to play in tackling rising food insecurity and the significant toll it is taking on low-income household’s health and well-being.
This virtual event will hear from councils and voluntary and community organisations about their learnings from effective local approaches to improving residents’ financial resilience and access to nutritious food – which could be put into action in your area.
