Founded in 2021, Manchester Food Partnership - Commit to Community aims to combat food insecurity through education and empowerment. Each week community members, including students, asylum seekers, refugees, and homeless families, come to Firs Environmental Center to learn about sustainable food practices. Participants grow food that is redistributed within the community, including supporting Oldham Council's veg box scheme. This year, with backing from the Manchester Food Board and the Tree Council, the project expanded to include tree-planting workshops in local schools, broadening its educational and social impact.
